SalesLoft Graduates - Their Startup Story At The Village

June 29, 2016

SalesLoft joined the Village the day it opened in January of 2013 in a pre-construction office with Founder Kyle Porter, 3 employees, and $0 in revenue. Since that day, they've grown to 95+ employees, over $10 million in revenue, and raised 8 figures in their series A financing. The Village and the SalesLoft team grew up together, and we couldn't be happier for their success.  With an an incredible team, strong leadership and a culture of positive, high energy folks- SalesLoft has officially graduated from the Village! SalesLoft joins fellow Village Graduates Bitpay, insightpool, Yik Yak, and ClockwiseMD. To celebrate this big milestone, we asked their Director of Marketing, Tami McQueen, to reflect on her startup story with SalesLoft below. It was a balmy morning (read: sweltering spring day in the South) in 2014 when I navigated the lanes down Lenox Road to the unmarked Atlanta Tech Village. It was there I would meet the core SalesLoft team for the first time. I stepped into unknown tech territory, where my frame of reference for startups stood somewhere between the season premier of Silicon Valley and The Internship. I did my homework. I had an inkling that the structure I walked into laid the foundation for what could catapult Atlanta into the top echelon of all innovation centers.Except I didn’t really get that. Well, not until I understood the power of serendipitous interactions and startup communities. But there’s more. That day, I interviewed with CEO Kyle Porter and the leadership team for a role as the first marketing hire. We walked around the office, met the team, and artfully dodged scooters that weaved in and out of our pathway. I observed engineers huddled around lines and lines of code, salespeople at standing desks, and marketing teams drawing on the walls. Gasp! The energy in the hallways pulsed a gentle intensity. And I wanted in on the action. A few weeks later, I dropped the Google Maps pin to reflect the intersection of innovation and opportunity as my daily commute to SalesLoft. It wasn’t about the building, structure, or location. It never was. But rather a commute that drove the insatiable desire to do more and become more alongside peers who were chasing the same vision, core values, and next level tri-blend tech tee.The Atlanta Tech Village represents the early days of SalesLoft’s explosive growth in a market that lends to the most important sales process innovation in the last 10 years. The address listed on Crunchbase stood to shatter all expectations of scaling a startup and survival outside Silicon Valley. It’s where SalesLoft grew 2,000% in 2014, and from five to 40 employees in nine months. It’s where we put core values and culture at the center of everything we did. It’s where power tools were dubbed as white noise during the construction process for the MacBook of Atlanta office buildings. It’s where our team took the stairs to the fourth floor, and hundreds more would scale those stairs daily. We entered contests and sang about being “on the stairs again.”It’s where we struck the gong for closing our first deal and our first million dollars in revenue. It’s where the SalesLoft Scientist came to life and Cadence go-to-market video was produced. It’s where the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) announced SalesLoft as a Top 10 Most Innovative Companies in Georgia. It’s where we plotted the greatest marketing hack ever seen at Dreamforce. It’s where we raised $10+ million Series A venture funding. It’s where we laid the foundation to later be named the #1 Best Place to Work in Atlanta. It’s where we set out to:

  • To change the lives of our people and propel them to accomplish their goals and dreams.
  • To change the landscape of the Atlanta Tech Industry, without which we would not be where we are today.
  • To stamp our mark on the global timeline of sales development, bringing sincerity and science to our industry.

And it’s where I found my home, my affinity for building things, and the Atlanta community. It’s where we built the SalesLoft family, legacy.Atlanta Tech Village, thank you. Thank you for the opportunity to pay it forward, dream big, be nice, and to work hard, play hard. It takes a village, this is ours.

Cheers to you, SalesLoft. You inspire us.
