Are you interested in optimizing your brain in just 15 minutes?
When we hear about meditation, we may picture monks or men with man buns humming om on a mountaintop. So what exactly are Google employees, Rupert Murdoch, and Oprah getting out of this ancient practice?
In a world of hyperstimulation, our brains develop overactive “default mode networks,” heightening our anxiety, stress, and distractibility. In the past 10 years, Harvard and Yale researchers have found that just 15 minutes of meditation can calm our default mode networks so we maintain focus and clarity throughout the day.
Plus, they've discovered that the effect isn’t temporary. Even beginner meditators show brain matter reallocation from the amygdala to the hippocampus. This means during meditation, our brains rebuild themselves for optimal thinking, boosting our creativity, focus, and happiness while reducing our capacity for anxiety and stress.
Start optimizing your brain in Meditation 101, where you’ll practice the basics of Mindfulness Meditation, plus three additional techniques to round out your Meditation Toolkit.

Chris Butsch is a graduate of Vanderbilt University and a veteran of the Nashville Entrepreneur Center’s summer jumpstart program. While working at Epic as a project manager, he struggled to find happiness; a problem he shared with many of his fellow millennials. While researching positive psychology and the neuroscience of joy, he never found the perfect book to recommend which trained young people how to be happy. So in 2015, he quit his job to write it.
The Millennial’s Guide to Making Happiness is a compilation of the world’s most powerful positive psychology techniques, flavored with humor, proven by science, and supported by anecdotal evidence from hundreds of millennials from around the world. While researching meditation, Chris lived with Buddhist monks in Magnolia Grove Monastery for 8 days and has trained bankers, lawyers, and high schoolers in Mindfulness Meditation.
