Code for Atlanta hack nights are all about getting stuff done. We start off by learning about civic projects attendees have brought and then divide ourselves into small groups to get to work. We also organize a few general interest groups for brainstorming new projects. If you have an established project to work on, or if you'd like to lead an interest group brainstorm, please email us at [masked]
This event will also feature a brief Civic Hacking 101 session to introduce new attendees to the broader civic hacking movement and recap our recent history here in Atlanta.

Here are some existing projects that need a group lead:

  • CutePets: A Twitter bot that posts adoptable pets in a city. We need a volunteer to fork this app to set up an Atlanta instance.
  • Balance: A text message system to help those on SNAP benefits (food stamps) check their EBT card balance. We need a volunteer to write a voice-to-SMS adapter for the state of Georgia.
  • Open Civic Data: A national API for open data about local governments. We need a volunteer to lead on writing scrapers and data loaders for the City of Atlanta and potentially other metro jurisdictions.

Will you step up?
